Two SETI horses grazing in a green pasture at golden hour with hay bales, a water tank, and mountains behind

Meet the Horses

The Herd at the Heart of SETI

Five horses. Each one brings its own temperament, pace, and way of connecting — and each holds a distinct role in the work we do together.

Our herd

Each horse a guide, each session its own

Horses are never assigned at random. Pairings are made with attention to pace, sensitivity, and what a participant needs on the day.

Jessie, a chestnut Quarter Horse with a white blaze, standing in a green pasture below a mountain ridge

Jessie

Jessie sets the tone for the herd. Her calm authority gives people something solid to stand beside, and she is quick to let you know when you have settled.

Whiskey, a chestnut Morgan mare in a green teal rope halter, standing in a grassy yard with a dog sniffing nearby

Apache, a brown and white Paint mare in a blue halter, being groomed by two people in a grassy pasture

Apache

Apache takes her time deciding who she trusts, but once a connection is formed, she welcomes you as part of her herd. She’ll follow you around the round pen, quietly choosing to stay by your side. Although she likes to pretend she isn’t interested in activities, she secretly hates being left out and always wants to be included.

Ponyboy, a brown and white Paint gelding in an orange halter, drinking from a galvanized water tank in a green pasture

Horse 4 of 5

Ponyboy

Romeo, a young bay Paint-marked Arabian gelding, leaning his head into a person's hand in a pasture below the mountains
